JSB Cheque Post Office Problem

Hi, I recently started receiving JSB when my working hours were reduced and I took my first 2 cheques into the post office today.. one was for 225.60 and the other was for 37.50.. When I was given the cash I put it in to my wallet and counted it when I got home about 10 minutes later... I was given 225.60 and left short 37.50 so I rang the post office and explained this to them and they told me to ring them again tomorrow because they have to count up the cash at the end of the day which is understandable... What my concern is if they tell me tomorrow that they don't have the money even though obviously they do because I never got it... I know I should of counted it before leaving the desk, it was my first time ever collecting any benefits and I didn't even think to check it until I was home... What can I do if they tell me they don't have it?

Payments are counted out in front of you right down to the cent ,
Surely you checked if before you left

sorry. but they never just hand out a wad of cash without counting it out and I would count it again myself right in front of them....but i guess wait till tomorrow and see what they say.

In this instance it wasn't counted it was just handed to me I didn't even know it's supposed to be counted out.. Maybe it would have been had the woman serving me not been asking me was my mother someone she knew.. I do realise I should of counted it before leaving it was just a mistake and I'm sure it was just a mistake on her part leaving me short too, I just don't want to have loads of hassle trying to get it from them... I just don't know who I would contact about it if there's a problem tomorrow..

The woman dealing with you is possibly more used to people getting one single payment using their pps card and when presented with two cheques it may have thrown her as well as her trying to quiz you to find out who you are. You will most likely find that the second missing payment has already been found and placed in an envelope or noted down that it belongs to you and will be there when you want it.
