    Hi all,

I'm heading to South America next month - starting in Peru - and am having serious difficulty finding anywhere to exchange currency. Does anyone have any ideas? I am flying via Chicago, so will probably be able to pick some up there (even just enough for a taxi from the airport before I can find an ATM), but would rather not wait if there's any chance of getting it before I go.

    Thanks!

Most of the South American currencies are not available on national exchanges. You'll be able to change some money in the airport or use an atm there. Failing that US$ are always handy all over the world.

There are many many ways to exchange currency in Lima . On the street and in Banks etc

Thanks a million for your replies, I think going with dollars is the best plan - can't imagine they'll be turned down anywhere along the way!!
