I'm just wondering does anybody's think they have the oldest or one of the oldest Mk2 escorts brought into Ireland..?
    Or even one the rarest?

Jun/Jul 1975 1.3 automatic, a friend of my brother owned it a few years ago, a very faded Higgins of Galway sticker is on the back screen
Not 100% but I think it may have been beige originally.

I've a 1.3 2 door Ghia at home. The 2 door Ghia is rare, and the 1.3 Ghias are rare, now combine both!. I know that Ford here didn't list the 2 door Ghia (as I have a copy of the '78 Escort Brochure from Ford of Cork). Also, the vast majority of Ghia's were 4 door (and 1.6 also).

The car was never stripped and restored either. It's got the original head & block (matching numbers) though the engine was rebuilt. It's got the original gearbox, back axle, glass and interior. The only piece of non Ford metal in the car is the lower front panel, even though the front wing was changed after 8 months of ownership and it was paid for by an insurance company. That repair was by the original dealer (and I've got the receipt for that!)

My dad's Miami blue 2 door awaiting restoration first registered 15th May 1975, build date Jan 75. Will hopefully get it underway this summer, been saying that for 3 years though.

I'd say there's bound to be more regsitered before May, I think they were released in roughly Jan 75, first built Dec 74?
