You're looking for a Transformer Oil:

The ESB likely have tanks full of the stuff :D

    Also sold as "Switch Oil"

Give Gem oils a call, on 049 4378116, I got 5 gallon drum from them a few years back for a Pickhill welder that I have. Expensive stuff, I think I paid about 100 odd euro for the 5 gallons.

Was there much water in the old oil,the oil has never been changed in the one here might be time to think about changing it before it goes bang.

It was probably 10 or 15 years old, without ever being changed. About an inch and a half or water/crud/bits or shellac varnish etc in the bottom. Was just about to touch the lowest coils of wire, so lucky escape I thought.
Whatever about drawing in humidity when cooling down. leaving them out overnight and getting rained on must be a killer. I noticed that this current welder has the top TEX screwed down, whilst the old one it replaced had properly drilled and tapped bolt holes to screw down the top, and a better gasket.
