    Hi,
Does anyone have an opinion on this car?
I am going to buy a 2nd hand car this and was hoping to buy one of these. I want a 1.3 or smaller.
Or what in your opinion would be the best (economical and reliable) car to go for with a budget of about 7K ( including a trade-in).
    Thanks!!!

    Those Civics are 1.4 minimum.
With your budget you should be able to get newer than 06.
They're pretty slow but well built, safety is good on them but rear visibility isn't the best.

If you have to stay under 1.4 (do you though?) then a Hyundai i30 is worth a look. The 1.4 in it is much better than the one in the Civic.

Thanks!! This one states that it is 1.3...maybe a typo?

I am hoping for 1.3 for tax/ insurance/ fuel reasons. Note: I am absolutley clueless here...so will take any advice.
I never considered a hyundai, having read through other threads here I decided to focus on Honda or Toyota.
    Thanks again!

Most cars of this size are 1.4 litre but I cannot see there being a huge difference between a 1.3 litre and 1.4 litre when it comes to tax and insurance.

I'd look at the Kia Ceed also, tend to be cheaper than Civics, 1.4 is more powerful and don't carry the sigma that some insurance companies associate with the Civic.

That civic couldn't be NCTd till August 2016 either (it's not a uk import)

Its also the bog basic spec.

Re the engine size its 1339cc, so nearer to 1.3 than 1.4 - but given that its more than 1300cc its taxed as 1.4 - it was also marketed as such when new.

With those civics look for rust between the windscreen and roof, its quite common on them.

    Thanks Guys,
I will start to look at something else so. Not sure about that Kia. Maybe i should go for a golf if I am now considering a 1.4 :) Thank you

The 1.4 Golf is not a great car. I wouldn't bother with them.

Hyundai i30 and Kia Ceed are the same car underneath the slightly different exterior bodywork.
