I have a Campag 53/39 up front and an 11/23 cassette.
Is it possible to swap over the cassette to say an 12/26 without affecting anything else?
Need a few easier gears for the hills.
    Thanks

If you go to a larger big sprocket on the back then you may well need to put a new chain on as well, as the old one may not have enough slack to go around the new teeth. Though that may be a good idea anyway, depending on how worn your existing chain and/or cassette may be.

It should be fine without touching the chain. I swap a 23 cassette out with a 21, a 25 and sometimes a 29 and it's all hunky dory.

Thanks for replies, hoping to do a swap without interfering with the chain

Once above about 28t you may also need a longer cage rear derailleur.

No problem to switch the cassette to anything up to 29 with Campag. Might be worth putting on a new chain too if you have more than 1500 - 2000k on your current chain.
