I just got accepted to the MSc in Management in Smurfit. Does anybody do it, do they have any advice.

Coming in from a non business background, so I think I need to hit the ground running if I can!

Did the MSc Project Management, which maybe slightly different, but I also came from a non-business background. Would probably look at books on either Business Strategy or Organizational Behaviour as I found these to be the most intense in terms of new content.

What would be the difference in MSc Management versus an MBA would anybody know? (other than the price)

not a lot really, but the MBA covers things in greater detail and would be MUCH more valuable on a CV

ahh ya but depending on your experience, your salary after the mba could take a big jump and that would easily cover the extra cost. good tip if money is the big issue... study your backside off for the GMAT.... sit the test and if you get high enough marks you'd be in line for a scholarship

MBA salaries quoted are normally 3 years after graduating.

    http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/2/5728ac98-7c7f-11e3-b514-00144feabdc0.html#axzz31v2EnIZ3

That combined with the fact with that the average Smurfit full-time MBA student is 30 means that the 'salary today' is usually measured at 33 years of age. Which at 105000$ (~77000 Euro) according to the FT 2014 rankings, is by no means huge.

That obviously doesn't cover other factors, like further earning ability, promotion bias for those with MBA's etc. but if sponsorship or scholarship is an unlikely scenario, then an MBA at Smurfit needs to very carefully considered.

OP as someone who has an MSc from Smurfit (I'd prefer not to specify) and came from a non-business background, you will be fine. Just try to keep up with the reading and get going on your group work as early as possible and you'll have no issues.
