Mk7 Civic Headlights problem

    Hi folks.

Have a 04 1.5 saloon civic and the dip lights both went at the same time and quickly after that the full heads went as well. I am thinking it is the light switch as there is no way the two sets of bulbs would go together.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening before and secondly has anyone ever removed the steering wheel from a similar civic and know how to take off the airbag without it going off. I know that fords and other cars have times on the airbags and am wondering if the civic is the same.

    Thanks

    Denny

I would check fuses first. Sounds to me like the fuses blew. Maybe water getting in to the light shorted them out?

Re the bulbs, normally they're replaced in pairs, so they experience the same on/off, vibrations, etc, and generally blow around the same time. However, if you popped the dips as well, I'd check the fuses as suggested and then the bulbs. If it keeps popping bulbs your regulator could be off.

For the airbag, leave the car disconnected from the battery for 30-60 minutes (I usually leave as long as I can to be sure) and then using a torx screw driver, you unbolt the side bolts from the airbag and it just slides off.

I've a 01 Civic 5 door; same model as yours.
Few years ago; I had both dips fail within a day of each other; thankfully I had spares in the boot so was not caught out too badly.

Would be surprised if the switchgear is faulty to be honest; did you have non standard bulbs fitted???/

Before removing airbags and switchgear...did you try a new bulb? :P
