Hi everyone have had 2000 ford focus now for 4 years since I started driving and now the time to update now all I've been looking at is the newer model of ford focus. Being diesel and the road tax for 200 for the year is what is keeping me thinking of a ford focus and the fact that I've had my other one for so long with no big problems.

Just want to make an enquiry is there any other cars out there that I should be having a look at?

    Thanks I'm advance.

    Hyundai i30
    Kia Cee'd
    Honda Civic
    VW Golf

All of which I'd have before a diesel Focus.

    To add the the above:-

    Audi A3

    Toyota Auris

    Volvo C30

Lots to choose from. €10,000 is a decent budget so I suppose just get out there and test drive a few models.

Kia pro_ceed looks nicer than the KIA ceed in my opinion but it depends whether you lke the sporty look or not.

Also if you're driving a petrol Focus now and do low mileage then have a think about whether you need a diesel one. Diesels can give hassle if you do lots of short trips.

Have a look at the Volvo S40 too. Not as good looking as the Focus, but better specced, and shares the same platform. I found a negligible difference in price between petrol S40`s and Focus'. Came from driving a 2000 Focus too, and is a similar size, but definitely a less engaging drive.

The ironic thing there is that model A3 was launched in 2003 :)

We test drove a 08 golf prior to Audi no alloy wheels or fog lights dealer was looking for E6600 ...

Granted, its just funny to go from a newer model car to an older one when you're trading up.
I'd much prefer an a3 to a focus to be fair but I remember driving a 1.6 A3 13 or so years ago and could never understand the logic of buying one (they were megabucks back then)
With emissions taxing the 1.6 finally died a death
