Upgradeability of Old Peugot Frame

    Hi,

I'm looking to build a bike for myself by matching various components from different manufacturers and eras. How possible is it to do so? Ideally, I want to buy a 1980s Peugot frame and add a more recent groupset and wheelset? Is that feasible?

For example, can I change from having the gear levers on the frame to thumb shifters?

    Any advice on this appreciated.

Summary question: how much of an old peugot frame is upgradable?

It's very possible, you'd need to buy cable stops for the downtube to convert to STI shifters and you will need to cold-set the spacing for the rear axle to accommodate the newer wheels, besides that it's just swap stuff over.

Only thing to add is that the holes for the brakes may need drilling out to 8 mm.

I have a 70's frame with modern wheels and shifters with the remainder 80's and 90's
