    Listened to Larry's show today.

Never has a dj sounded so out of place, having to adhere to 2fm's 'yoof' playlist. :(

I can imagine poor Larry leaving the studio while Calvin Harris and Pitbull work their magic.

Larry of course, has been at 2fm 'since the beginning', but now surely must be the time for him to move on.

RTE Gold, perhaps? John Clarke's 'Ireland's Biggest Jukebox' has moved there.

    Opinions?

Personally, I think he's a good DJ. Sure he's getting on a bit but he's been well able to present the hits decade after decade. So on that basis this decade shouldn't be much bother to him. The problem there are few good radio DJ's about - most are bland yellow pack DJ's - and he stands out.

In fairness, I'd leave the studio too...

Tell me when did LG play that song? I don't think even Spin would do such a thing

He'll be carried out in a box and no sooner I'd say.

Larry was out of touch with the youth 35 years ago let alone now.

I'm not saying he should retire (far from it), he just seems out of place on 2fm.

Better suited to RTE Gold IMO.

larry hasnt uttered a spontaneous or independant thought in decades so its not like he is going to insult anyone

he will most likely croak in the middle of a steely dan track

As much as I love Larry I do feel that he's out of place on the "new" 2FM. I wouldn't like to see him retire but maybe a move to Radio 1 or RTE Gold might be better for him now.

His Golden hour now isn't very 'golden'

Yeah what's the obsession with him retiring?

    Don't know TBH.

Larry has always played a mixture between the classics and latest tunes. I hate most modern music and think it's pretty sh1t but I remember about 15 years ago I liked the latest music of the day and others thought it was crap.

So maybe some haters have just moved on but Larry is still the same.

    Long live Larry!

He'd be better on a station like 4fm playing classic pop/rock.
He's totally wrong on that useless 2fm who are imo rapidly going downhill.

Yeah pal and long live Jimmy Magee as well....nothing personal but these people have been about Radio since God was a child.

Radio should be a fast moving , edgy changing place to work...dosn''t sit well in a public service environment.

RTE is full of these dinosaurs....time to move them out ....long overdue.

I love Larry and I love his show! His pronounciation of some names is comical.

    Leave Larry alone!

He sounds very out of place now because the golden hour playlist has got very narrow and has mostly songs from 4-10 years ago.

They should send Larry over to Lyric, where he can follow Marty Whelan's show. He can then play stuff like The Bay City Rollers and Showaddywaddy to his heart's content - in keeping with Lyric's new remit.

RTE Gold would be the ideal outlet for him.

I think he has done an odd bank holiday morning on it recently.

It seems when Aidan Leonard is filling in for Larry on the golden hour, he plays mostly stuff from the 70s and 80s.
