Basically I have half a bottle of autoglym polish and extra gloss protection from about 4 years ago just wondering would they be safe to use? Kept in dry dark place....

Would they damage paint or lose efficay? Should it just bin and re-buy?

    Hi,

Shake well and just check for lumps.

I have AG sitting in the garage got it 9 years ago and it's ok.
    It's a big tin(5ltr).

    You should be fine.

Look up detailing shed if you need some stuff and ask Curran on this for any help in picking out some good stuff.

Not really...with a good shake, both of those ptoducts should be fine.
If products are let sit, a lot of them separate and need a bit of a shake before use anyways.

If they're going out of date, your not feeding your car cleaning addition enough. Get it sorted :pac:

What would be a good polish and wax combo for bmw f10 silver for beginner?

Autoglym srp and egp or colinite 845?

I have purchased the collinite 845 but haven't had a chance to apply yet but is meant to be the best.

Others here can't say anything bad and looks amazing.

SRP and EGP is a good combo if you prep the car well.

Collinite 845 may not combo well with the EGP though....not saying it cant be done, just might not be as durable if it were applied directly to the paintwork.

Sorry wasn't suggesting using srp and colinite. Was asking what option is best for beginner:

    Srp and egp

    Or

    Some polish and colinite 845

    For my car?

Sorry, I read your post slightly wrong!!

Depends on the condition of your paintwork, and what you are trying to achieve.
If you are trying to hide swirls, the SRP & EGP. If your paint is reasonably good, then 845 would be my choice.

Ok thanks, what Polish would go best with 845? If paying in good nick how often should you de iron, de tar, polish and wax? Do some more often than others?

You could use SRP for example, but Id be sure to wash the car down afterwards with APC to remove it from the paint. The polishing will restore some depth, shine and gloss. Washing it out will obviously removed the fillers in the polish that help hide defects, but your 845 will last longer.

How often you would de-iron, de-tar, polish and wax would depend on the mileage and the conditions you drive in. On average, people usually do it twice. Once after the winter to get their car back in tip top shape, and once in the Autumn to ensure their car is protected for the harsh winter months.
Although, polishing isnt always necessary; sometimes a de-iron, de-tar, clay and protection is sufficient.
