i am building a car for track days but i want to know will it have problems with the following if it goes for a nct. so any nct testers here?

    interior fully stripped out.
2 fixed bucket seats with 6 point harness.
    6 point roll cage.
    polycarb windows all around.
front end will be all rose jointed.
car is a 1993 so does it need a cat.
    internal stainless braided fuel+brake lines.

6 point harness will be a problem so I'd recommend leaving in the original belts aswell. Then it'll pass.
The roll cage needs to be bolt in and not weld in.
Polycarb windows will be a failure because you need (at least*) a working drivers window.
Whether it needs a cat is decided on the emissions levels. If it's a remapped track car your lambda levels might be high which would be a failure.

*From what I've heard some places require just the drivers, and some require all to be functional.

ok thanks that gives me something to work off of. i know on the front polycarb windows they have sliders. there is a 4 inch hole. not sure if that will be good enough, i read somewhere that all it is need for it to talk to gards at a checkpoint but not 100% sure on that.

    NCT Manual wrote:
[...] Where windscreens, side or rear windows are fitted with glazing material other than safety glass the vehicle owner shall
provide a certificate from the manufacturer or installer stating that the glazing material is not likely, if fractured, to produce
fragments capable of causing severe cuts. In the case of rally cars, this may take the form of a note from the Technical
Commissioner of the RIAC in the vehicle log book. [...]

Regarding belts - NCT Manual states that belts must be "lap an diagonal" type. I'd say it's upon tester's discretion to pass or fail 6 point harness in this case. But I'm open to corrections. :)

Edit: what if car is used only on track and travels on trailer while on public road? I think it does not need NCT at all.

I bought a car with NCT and the drivers windows was broking. I got a window regulator for it and when I took the panel off the door the window was wedged up with a block of wood. I wish it would have failed on it for previous owner as then I wouldn't have had to fix it myself set me back €120 for window reg.

Its not legal to have a roll cage in a road car, is it?

The seatbelt thing I always found to be ridiculous. You upgrade to an unquestionably safer 6 point harness, and they fail you for not having the original belt. Nonsense.

OP, I know some people who had cars with roll cages, FIA seats, harnesses etc passing previously no problem. They are failing now as I'm informed that the law has changed to that the original seats must be fitted (or non standards seats can't be fitted). They passed by swapping in standard seats....

If you do decide, hang on to the seats, cat and brake pads......

Edit - I assume (and hope) you're hanging on to the standard windscreen. If you do decide to swap in polycarbonate side windows, for a window winder use a strap to lift and lower the window (like vintage train carriages)

Really? Original seats? Seems a bit of a strange regulation to have in place (not that I would put it past them for a second...)

Yep - it's beginning to be a problem for some endurance cars. They are failing on having FIA competition seats. The solution I hear is to swap in original seats.

I agree it's a daft regulation but they again they have brought in some daft regulations (ask any Motorhome owner about the DOE test and the window markings!)

I know some EU states say you cant change seats but I didnt think this was in Ireland yet.

Are you serious, I have the NCT Thursday and I have two bucket seats in the front. It passed the last NCT fine with them though.

NCT manual says nothing about non-OE seats being fitted.

I was commenting on another posters comment, I have not heard of this rule been implemented in Ireland yet so I will say you will be fine.
