Hi guys,

does anyone here who works in HR know the route it takes to get into it? I'm from an entirely different field (academia) but am finding certain aspects of HR really interesting particularly conflict resolution, promotion of positive work environment, events organsiation and general advising.. I think these areas would be found in HR??

I would be fine with doing a postgrad in it part-time if I had to but would prefer to get in through paid internships or starting at the bottom of the ladder. I'm 26 so I'd be happy to change a few things to get myself to where I wanna go.

You sound like you might actually be good at HR. The industry really needs people like you.

It's mostly an admin job, and sorry to say this but it typically doesn't attract high calibre people, so the requirements to get in aren't that hard.

You would need a CIPD qualification to work in HR.
It is requirement for all HR roles unless you have a masters in HR.
Took me ages to get into HR bit I did a CIPD course(year part time) and I got in.
