    A quick question: Does a person actually need to have any particular qualifications to work as an arbitrator?

    Most have done a course in arbitration, but strictly speaking no, it's an unregulated professional title

    In certain contracts, the wording could be to the effect that in case of dispute, the arbitrator would be appointed by somebody like the President of the Law Society (for instance). An organization like the Law Society is probably going to kick for touch and look for people with qualifications.

    Can the arbitrator be liable for negligence for any acts or omissions then during the course of his job as arbitrator? Section 21 of the 2010 Act seem to suggest that the arbitrator is completely immune from liability right?
