So lads it is about time we moved this golf forum on :p. I think we are all setting our targets too low. :D
This bogey golf idea needs to be blown up ;)

I want the lads on the how did you score come out of their shell. Give the dreamers on here a target. Hope, or a reality check.

Have you had a Par or under Par round ?
    When / Where ?
Was it a once off day it all just happened ?
Was your handicap very low at the time ?
Did it make it easier next time ?
Was it all a bit of an anticlimax - as goals often are ?
Was it your home course - was the course a factor ?

I respond well to targets - so have set 2015 as the year to have one. Will be very hard as I do have a few doubles in me most times and am not a birdie machine in any way shape or form. I feel it may happen on a day I get an eagle on a par 5.

But - will give it a go. :p:D

A round of -1 is my best and also a round of level.
Both in South County last year.
It had been coming a while as I was playing a lot up to it and shooting comfortable 2-3-4 overs.
Definite anti climax for me. Felt good but not really too different to any other great score I've had before.
It was a distant memory the next day I played.
Having good 2-3-4 over rounds regular at the moment so I can feel I'm going to shoot level or under this summer.

Playing off 5 then and still off 5 now. Bit of a quiet year last year after the good rounds due to missus going back working after maternity and me becoming a stay at home dad.

Level in Rathsallaght a few years ago. Delighted but also slightly disappointed as I was -1 standing on the tee and bogied the last :( . The thing I remember most was feeling in control of every shot. Fade, draw, it all seemed easy. Hard to recapture that feeling. 3 or 4 over isn't that rare for me but level is a great feeling.

Have you had a Par or under Par round ? -3 is my best, but I have shot level more than half a dozen times I reckon.

    When / Where ?
-3 at Athlone. 2-3 years ago, middle of summer, good weather

Was it a once off day it all just happened ? I had 3 birdies and 15 pars. The birdies came at the 1st, 10th and 18th.

Was your handicap very low at the time ? I was playing off 5 at the time and was cut 0.5 to get me down to 4. I didn't win a prize on the day, Scoring was UNREAL!

Did it make it easier next time ? Easier to aim for level par, but not to beat it

Was it all a bit of an anticlimax - as goals often are ? It was fricking amazing!

Was it your home course - was the course a factor ? It was my home course and it was undoubtedly a factor. The benefit of knowing what club to hit on each hole and the confidence to do so, as well as know the breaks on the greens was such an advantage!

What the hell, that's just wrong. You shoot 8 shots better than handicap which would be equivalent to 44pts and get no where? Granted CSS was high at 39pts if you were only got cut 0.5 but still 8 better than handicap is crazy good scoring and kind of a once in a lifetime type score.

Shot a few level pars on my home course, but my best was a 68 (-4) on the Victoria Course Villamoura - & that included dumping one in the water on 17!!

Very satisfying were a level & a -1 to win 2 junior scratch cups away from home - to do it in competition feels better than a Tuesday knock around - but it's always a buzz to do it!!

I have one card framed on my wall - level round St Andrews Old Course - just for the history of the place & the fact my buddy laughed when I said I'd do it - he paid for the framing as the bet :)

What was in common with all rounds was my putting - didn't miss anything you'd expect to make & holed a few big ones - think it was 26 putts for the 68. But to go low you need to have everything in sync.

Just a random day. Scoring in general was unreal. Winner was 46, 2 45's and another 44 better than mine, lol :D

In general in Athlone, 40/41 wins, 38 for places. It was just one of those days :)

Have you had a Par or under Par round ?
    Yes a few

    When / Where ?
Most recently today. I had a -1 round at St Margaret's

Was it a once off day it all just happened ?
I used to be a decent player as a kid but only took the game up again a couple of years ago after a 20 year break

Was your handicap very low at the time ?
It was 6 before today. I suspect it'll be 5 tomorrow

Did it make it easier next time ?
    No idea yet

Was it all a bit of an anticlimax - as goals often are ?
    No, it was good fun

Was it your home course - was the course a factor ?
Yes my home course and that was probably a big factor. Also it wasn't windy and the greens were fairly soft from the recent rain so the course was definitely in good shape to score on although some of the pins were really tucked away.
