Hi I recently got the gopro hero 3 white edition brand new. I then bought a samsung 64gb memory card.

I have a new toshiba laptop with the lates version of windows 7.

the first time i used it i took around 4 five minute videos and the all worked perfect. i wnet back home put the memory card into the computer and transferred them to my desktop and they all played no prob on windows media player.

The second time i used it i took 8 videos, around 20 minutes each this time. when i put in the memory card i could only play 4 of them, the other 4 will not play. this was all using windows media player. the four that wouldnt work on windows media player i get a messgae saying 'Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer.'

so i then downloaded go pro studio and they wont open on that either, nor will they open on quicktime player.

I also downloaded AVS video converter to see if i could change the format of the video but when i go to import the file to AVS it wont even let me import it, i get a message saying file format error.

Why is this happening to some fo my videos please help??

    thank you

    Sounds like corrupt video files.

Maybe reformat the memory card and try again? Just make sure you have a reliable memory card. Some cheap/dodgy memory cards can cause corruption.

Without having the video clips, I have no idea if they could be converted or recovered at all. I don't do much video work.

I don't think you can format the card within the GoPro, only delete all files. Check your manual though.

thanks again Paul for the reply,

the memory card is samsung though ao its unlikely this is a cheap dodgey one so is it possible there is something else causing corruption?

Try contacting GoPro support. They are very good. They should be able to help a lot more than me.

VLC is probably the best video player out there. It'll even read some damaged files. I'm guessing that the go pro outputs h.264 encoded mp4 files, these should play fine under windows 7 and media player however, but give VLC a shot.

Ideally you should format the card after every use. Consult your manual on how to do this.
