USADA announced today that Tyson Gay of Winter Garden, Fla., an athlete in the sport of track & field, has tested positive for a prohibited substance and accepted a loss of results dating back to July 15, 2012 and a one-year suspension for his anti-doping rule violation.
Gay, 31, tested positive for the presence of an exogenous androgenic anabolic steroid and/or its metabolites.....

Hard to see how he could get less than 2 years, makes a joke of the sport.

That's not the point. His positive test was announced last July.
A 1 year ban for continued use of steroids is a farce.

Well, he's returned his Olympic silver and accepted an annulment of results from July 2012, so it's effectively a two year ban.

No it's not. I've never heard of a ban being put back to before a positive test, certainly not by nearly a year. He still would have income from his endorsements etc from this time. Plus he can compete this Summer, so
presumably can earn money from the sport again.
Maybe USADA have further news/developments to come but on the face of it, it's a farce.
Hopefully IAAF or WADA will appeal.

Well everyone knows he's not the only one. A 1 year ban for being dumb enough to get caught

Nah I'm sure everything is all above board with all the other athletes

Why should only Tyson Gay lose 4x100m olympic medal 2012 when all benefited from it. All on the team should lose the medal for that event not just those done for doping.
