Do I need to print Bus Eireann tickets

    Hi,

I have purchased a ticket online for a journey on Bus eireann tomorrow. The journey requires me to change buses at one point. The problem is I don't have any ink in the printer. Can I just write down the code and give it to the driver to print the ticket or do i absolutely need the print off.

    Thanks

If you have phone from which you can access the internet you can show it to the driver.

I'd say if you explained it to the driver and had the details written down you might get on. They type the MAC number into the ticket machine when printing it out.

    Hi,

Just saw that it says on the ticket that I can show it on my phone. Thanks for all the replies!

THe driver puts the code into the ticket machine and it prints your ticket twice and driver keeps one copy for a record of tickets issued without a cash payment.

Have never had this happen. Occasionally the driver writes down the code, but only one ticket is printed.

it is the new way they do it since allowing you show the code on your mobile.

Saw it done the other night on the Waterford bus. Maybe some drivers are not aware of the new system? Or maybe the machines require an update to allow them print the tickets twice from the codes?

And I haven't had this happen since it was brought in. At the start, they took down the number, but recently haven't bothered.

It depends on the ticket machine on the bus. The older wayfarer machines that print the long thin tickets, gives a 2 part ticket that the driver keeps a piece of and pays in like cash.

The newer TGX machines keeps a running total of internet sales in it's memory - but since the system is new and some bugs have been reported a lot if drivers like to keep a record of what they've sold just to double check. That's why you'll see some write down the number and value, just to double check later.
