Giro d'Italia: past St Annes Park or up Howth Road?

I see they finally fixed the potholes along the Howth Road cycle lane (heading toward the city).

It's a very good cycle road now since the resurfacing.

On the other hand there's still a hell of a lot of work left to do on the section of coastal road opposite St Anne's Park (between Wooden Bridge and the Causeway). Are they seriously considering getting the road ready in time for the Giro, or are the repairs on the Howth Road indicative of a possible redirection up the Howth Road??

I was wondering the same. I can't see them not going up the Howth road, the seafront is in rag order.

Defo along the coast as I understand it.

Why did they resurface the Howth road so quickly ? They worked through the night on it too. Seems unusual.

That document stops at the Kilbarrack road junction. The next junction splits off to the Howth road and continues down the seafront towards St Annes.

Hmm. Anyway, right there at Blackbanks is where I'll set up camp I think.

Aye but you can see the pink route continues down the coast, not the Howth road. It also tallies with the event plan.

There's a map of the route here, continuing on to Clontarf and not Raheny.

I noticed a lot of work going on between Malahide and Portmarnock today too. It got me thinking:

    1. Create a map of the worst roads in the country.
    2. Convince international bicycle race(s) to hold a stage here.
    3. ????
    4. Profit!

So what do we need? World Tour Races - Tour of North County Dublin, Tour of Wicklow

I was thinking that myself, some of the road between Portmarnock and Baldoyle is now like a billiard table.

the way i picked it up was its following the coast road into dollymount and clontarf.

Joe Duffy was getting ratty aswell last week about the whole Giro thing and if its going straight on into dollymount and clontarf him living where he does along the route would explain his contempt towards the race

He can't drive his car up and down the coast road for a few hours.

Maybe he can call his own show about it during the week.
