So on the lookout for a new motor and looking at a 1.7L to 2.0L Diesel.
I'm gearing towards a Mondeo but also like the Passats, Accords and BMW's. Are the Mondeos a good buy and reliable or the others I mentioned good or would you go completely different.

A Mondeo is a good car, plenty of poke, especially with a 2.0 engine. A car is only as good as the previous owner has treated it. But, speaking from experience, mine has never caused any major bother so far. BMW's would have the reputation as a more luxurious car, over the rest.
    A nice example:

Accords are different class to Mondeo and passat IMO. Had/have all 3 albeit from different years.
BMW 5series for that money falls into the talked to death timing chain issues. Be careful.

Accords are tiny inside though, very little room in the back.

Not a hope of getting post 08 one for 9k either.

Mondeo are huge compared to them.
