I don't know where to put this thread, so here it goes.

I have some stains to remove from clothes and already tried Vanquish powder in the drawer and applied directly in the stains and then wet with water on the spot.

Then washed at 90 degrees and still the stains are there.

    How can I remove them?

I can't tell you what stain remover to use but I can explain some of the chemistry for you.
Depending on the electro negativity value differences in a compound and it's shape you can divide substances into being ionic , polar and non polar .

    Generally like dissolves like .

So a non polar substances won't readily dissolve in a polar substance .

For example when you use soap the c17h35 part of the molecule is non polar and will dissolve non polar substances .

However the n + o- part of sodium stearate is polar . So it will dissolve polar substances .

Not very helpful I know :)

    What color is the garment?

When the garment is white, stains often appear yellow, especially after a wash or bleaching. Use a blue fabric softener to get your whites whiter - and yellows to look white. Blue and yellow are complimentary colors - when added give white.

Many stains are visible because they are double bonds. The use of bleach breaks one of the bonds. The stain will still be there, just not visible in the spectrum we see.
