ACCA P4 OR P3 - Have I left it too late

    Hi

I know this is only a question I can answer myself but I am unable to make a decision so require some input….

I was planning on taking P3+P4 this June. However, due to a recent bereavement, I have done nothing at all for P3 (exam 12th June I think) and have attended about 3 classes for P4 (at the start) but also have done nothing since March (2nd June exam)

I need to make a decision if I should sit the exams in June or postpone til Dec (meaning if I pass, I won’t be able to complete until June as I will have one left.).

Am I being realistic with this and which would be the better to take, based on my limited studies? I would only take one. I will not be able to devote every day either as I work full time. My background is Treasury so not too far off P4 but I’m not sure if this would be a real benefit.

Thanks for any advice. I have completed all the F modules so have some fundamental knowledge of P4 (through F9)

Sounds like you know yourself P4 is the realistic option. P3 isn't bad but a very wide syllabus... So could be difficult to do without much study.

    Best of luck

If I would be you I would go with P3,
I have sat P3 exam once, if you study the text and do some past papers you will be fine. you still have 4 weeks which is more than enough.

It's very straight forward, you need to learn different theories/models and able to apply them. Its more common sense and not as technical as P1 or F8 but you need to know different models.

Even if you have done all classes of P4, I think P3 is more passable.

For P4, it is advance version of F9 but it has very technical and wide syllabus, Numerical +theory. very lengthy exam and hard to pass even if u have taken the classes and did fair bit of study.

Agreed that P3 is more doable in a short time.

There's just so much in P4 I think it'd be tough to get comfortable with all the topics especially since there's no shortcut other than knowing the models & doing as many questions as you can.

At least in P3 you can bring a bit of common sense & business knowledge into it, you don't really get that chance in P4 (unless a question really goes your way).
