NQT Workshops

Hi guys I'm looking for some help. I graduated in 2010 so this is my 4th year teaching. Unfortunately I did my probation in a Special School so got probated in a restricted setting which I think is crazy seeing as I used the same curriculum minus the Irish. I don't understand why I cant just display an Irish lesson when I get into a mainstream class but that's a whole other story. Ok my real problem - I went travelling for about 6 months and unintentionally left my registration lapse. I had to re register and when I got my new form it says that I must now complete these NQT workshops. I went to one of these workshops a year and a half ago by choice and decided it wasn't for me as I wasn't an NQT - the material wasn't relevant. I looked through the workshop outline which is completely geared towards NQTs. However the teaching council are saying that because I registered recently again and am not fully probated I will have to do them - even though they are not relevant. I tried to explain that I re-registered and did not register for the first time. I cant understand that they'd send someone who doesn't need to to these workshops merely because it's a requirement and not beneficial. I have a feeling I'll have to do these 20 hours which I think will be a waste of time but just looking for any suggestions that might help?
    Thanks in advance!

Sorry to say, you'll have to do them. Is your garda clearance up to date?

Ya up to date. Its crazy tho that people should have to do something just because its a requirement rather than beneficial! I rang the teacher induction centre today too and they said that its only geared for NQTs and that they couldn't understanding why someone who will be in their 5th year of teaching would require it.
