Golf clubs (courses)

Hi guys, back into golf a short while and only played 2 rounds before. I was a driving range monkey before this. Back in my late teens etc, I was reliant on my step dad to go to courses with and it never materialised. I'm now 28 and have my own wheels and still have my clubs. So far I've had around 4 rounds of a short par 3,and maybe 6 driving range visits. My young 15yo cousin is into it too.

Now I don't know a lot about the etiquette etc of golf. I know dress codes. I let people play through if faster. I am looking for any more info you can offer.

Also what golf clubs would allow a pay and playoffer and what would be the off peak times typically.

At what point in your game should you hit a course. I ask this as my cousin still has the odd shank and topping of the ball. Almost 50/50 if it'll be a good hit or not.

My knowledge of Golf course etiquette refers to

• Not moving or talking when someone is about to hit a shot.
• Not standing on someone putting line.
• Not playing out of turn (taking your shot when you are closer to the hole). Sometimes you might do this to speed up play, but you should mention it to who your playing with first.
• Not teeing off first when you had a worse score than someone on the previous hole.
• Always remember the 3 Rs: Replace divots, Repair pitch marks on greens and Rake bunkers.
• Keep your temper in check. No one likes to play with someone who gets upset over everything.
• Turn your phone off. If you must have it on ensure it is on silent.
• There is much more than what I have mentioned above. Follow the above and you will have no real problems.

Most clubs offer play and pay offers. Peak times vary depending on what events may be on at the Golf courses. Typically anytime before 10am on a weekday you should not encounter to many people on the course. As for weekends you might want to be out earlier, maybe 8 or 9am. My advice would be ring up the course you want to play beforehand to avoid disappointment.
