    Urban

If you look up the britishhorseracing.com site you will find details. If my memory serves me right Irish novices are diiferent to their British counterparts.
I think today for instance will be Balder Success last chance as a novice

In the past, the cut-off date in Ireland was always the end of Punchestown. However, they found that maiden hurdles in March, April and May suffered as a result as no-one wants to win a maiden hurdle and find their novice status gone the next month. So they introduced a new rule that if you win between 1 March and end of Punchestown, you can remain a novice until, I think, 1 October. Very helpful if you have a Summer jumper who wins a maiden in the last few months of the National Hunt season.

Interesting thanks for the response lads. Still a bit unsure though, the horse I ask about is The Romford Pele running tomorrow an English horse. If he won tomorrow would he still be considered a novice in England for the coming season?

I don't know, but I doubt he'd be a novice in England next year if he won.

But at what stage is the cut off, if a maiden over fences goes and wins and handicap chase in June around Perth he'd remain a novice. Must see if I can find it on the BHA or something

Has the new season not started in Britain though? Thought that after all the awards were given out at Sandown, leading trainer jockey etc that the next day they are all back to square one? So you should be grand. Similarly national season over here restarts at Down Royal on Monday.
