Road Rage?

I was on my way to work today and while I was traveling through a built up area a car pulled out in front of me. I wasn't going fast or over the limit but I had to hit the brakes because he left it very late to make his move. Anyway he drove 15 to 20 metres up the road and indicated to turn left.

I beeped once as I was going by (I know I shouldn't have but I was a bit peeved that I had to hit the brakes when there wasn't much traffic and he could have waited for me to pass as its a straight stretch of road). In my mirror I saw the car pull back out into traffic and start tailing me. At first I thought it was coincidence but I'm working in a remote enough area and he kept it up. After about 10 mins I turned at a traffic lights and he got stuck at the red. I took the long way to work but on the way the route reconverges and I passed the same fella going back towards town.

My question is was it really that wrong to beep? Was that a case of road rage by him and what should you do if he say followed me to my place of work

I was sh$tting it to be honest

There's an axe murderer lying behind your driver's seat.

You could have honked the horn as he was pulling out in front of you and it would have maybe alerted him to the fact that he's in the wrong, but what's the point of honking when the incident has finished and you're off down the road?

I'm sure he realised he was in the wrong as soon as he did it, you probably did irritate him by pointlessly honking at him. Doesn't justify tailing you though, if that is indeed what he was doing.

I had a feeling it was too late to do it alright but following someone for 10 to 15 mins! I ended up being late for work. Hate to be the next poor pleb who p$sses him off!

It just goes to show - when in doubt, ram the bastid.

In the Highway Code this type of situation comes under the heading '**** just got real'.

OP you should read up on a man called Richard Kuklinski. One of the most prolific and successful professional killers. He also routinely killed for fun. He was particularly fond of following someone who had committed some minor indiscretion on the road, or even just given him a bad look, and blowing their brains out.

That was you?!? Now I know what road you drive to work, and your boards username!

    The net is closing...

Serious answer: next time just call him something nasty from the comfort and safety of your own car. No need to be honking after the fact.

Well if it was me that got followed to work, I'd just tell security and they would sort him out fairly quick. Would that have been an option for you?

    Just for beeping the horn?????
    That's a bit much.

I left my indicator on going into a roundabout, didn't realise it at the time.
Other driver is speeding onto a roundabout, has to break.
All I saw was this young guy not paying attention to the road, so I said "Slow down ya w**ker" with associated hand gestures as I passed him.

Guy speeds past me on the inside (it was a slip road going onto a motorway), and then jams on. Nearly crashed into him as I was speeding up for the motorway.

It took me a sec to realise what was happening, and I thought, "Oh no, here comes a battering".

But then I got really angry and reversed to make some distance between him and me, rolled down my window and started telling him what I thought of him at volume, until he got back in his car and drove off.

I did catch something he said about an indicator, and I realised that he'd read my indicator as turning off the roundabout and that's why he was hooring into the roundabout in the first place.

Told this at work, and a few people said that they'd friends who were assaulted over reacting over some road incident. Crazy world.

Get to a roundabout and keep going round in circles.

Hopefully you'll have the most fuel.

Sometimes I find it very difficult to keep a cool head seeing some of the inconsiderate, hesitant, stupid, careless and downright dangerous plainly **** driving in this city. I might give someone a look or a blow of the horn but I'd never leave my vehicle to confront someone as that is an act of aggression and a situation can escalate very quickly into something quite dangerous. I would include tailing or tailgating someone in the same category in fact its a bit psycho full stop. Perhaps you could call the Gardai if you are suspicious of being tailed, you are allowed to use your phone while driving in a potential emergency. Alternatively perhaps take a detour to your local Garda station. Either way make sure you get the reg.
