Removing paint from a Bannister

    Hi folks.

I've decided to two tone my stair case at home.

The paint on it at the moment is tripe water based stuff lashed on by the builder so I've sanded the lions share of this off with sand paper.

I am stripping the bannister and the three pillars, top bottom and landing section.

Most of the bannister is stripped with the exception of a few "niggly" parts.

The pillars are proving a bit more difficult and especially under the cone and other places.

I hear Nitormorse (not sure if thats right) is a whittled down EU friendly version now and I don't have a heat gun or access to one at the moment so any other suggestions what I can use to strip those hard to sand places?

I ended up trying the Nitromors followed by heat gun and scraping approach a few years ago. Painful job, especially all the balusters, and what I found underneath wasn't worth saving. I ended up just ripping the whole lot out and replacing!

    Try Disc Brake Cleaner.
I was stripping a door with the Nitromors, pure crap compared with years ago. The guy's son was using it to strip a facia board next door.
I tried it on the door and have to say, did a super job. Should work a treat on stairs as its an aerosol spray.
Any car accessory shop will have it.
