    Hi,

After 1005 charge cycles the time has come to replace my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) battery. Its now holding a charge of under an hour.

I'm a bit confused as to which battery to order though as the apple store don't seem to stock it and the batteries on ebay are a little confusing. Could someone advice me on which battery to get?

    Thanks!

This is the hardware information I have:

    Ebay

I was looking at this battery - would that work? I'd like to get a genuine apple battery as the last spurious charger I got only worked for a few weeks before overheating and burning out.

    Thanks,

Apple wouldn't stock an internal non user replaceable part.

If you would like to have an official Apple branded battery, bringing it to the likes of CompuB (depending on where you are based) would be the best bet as they will use official Apple parts.

Thanks for that. I'd like to replace it myself to save money if possible. Would it not be possible to purchase one online and do it myself as I have done in the past with other laptops?

I have the same machine and the battery is well and truly fecked. Installing it yourself is easy. The problem is getting the official battery. I looked online and came to conclusion that I'd have to go the CompuB route if I wanted the official part.

You could always ask CompuB if they would sell the part to you, but something tells me they wouldn't be able to do that ... they would have to install the battery themselves.. even though SP has mentioned its a straightforward process to install really.

I'm afraid there isn't a way of ordering the battery from Apple for that particular mac.

Just to add - you could try these guys: http://eustore.ifixit.com/en/home/

They do aftermarket batteries and provide a 6 month warranty,If you wanted just the part.

However, I can't tell you if the battery is good or bad. ..Haven't used them before.

I'd personally still go for an Apple Branded battery....

I have the same machine but after working in IT for 15 years I'm fairly reluctant to hand over my laptop and be charged €60 to put a battery in !!

The laptop is still flying along, its been maxed out to 8gb of RAM and has an SSD as well as the original HDD taking the place of the CD-ROM. I recon its good for another couple of years yet.

I think the same. Very happy with the laptop aside from the battery! I guess I have no option but buggery.

Any idea how much Compu B would charge for a 2011 13" MBP battery replacement? It isn't even that bad but if love to get the 7 hours of juice back again!

    Here are the stats:

How many hours are you getting outta it - The stats there indicate its still in reasonable health.

I had no choice but to replace my 2009 MBP battery before Christmas. Dean over in Bondi group charged around €270 for a proper one plus fitting; I'd guess that CompuB, Mactivate or Evad would be in and around the same. He did offer to go with a used one or a spurious one for a lot cheaper; he urged against it but for me it was not going to be an option. You could do it yourself for a bit cheaper provided you can source a reliable battery and aren't too techie nervy to fit it in yourself; the offer was there to order it it for me if I wanted to.

As a general thought, I'd never fit any laptop or smartphone with battery's sourced from eBay; too many knock off's out there that may ruin your hardware.

I bought a Anker battery (http://www.ianker.com/Laptop-Batteries/category-c4-s3) through Amazon UK, will report on it after 20 cycles to see if it holds up.
    They have good reviews.
