Going to clubs makes me feel depressed. Has anyone advice?

The person I'm going to describe is ME, but I think it will be more palatable if I describe his situation in the third-person.

He's 23. He's been aware of being attracted to guys since about 17, and finally accepted that he's gay about half a year ago.

He has very low self-confidence when it comes to his appearance (as well as other areas), but is often complimented on his looks and has been encouraged to model. He accepts that he must, therefore, be somewhat good-looking, but when he looks in the mirror he is usually either disheartened or semi-repulsed.

Been to a club four times, and each time it started off with excitement and expectation, but ended with him feeling demoralised and in a depressive lull which lasted a few days. Not a confident dancer, and reluctant to approach guys, he has a constant internal monologue of, "If I'm good-looking, why is no one checking me out or propositioning me?" Also, because of the concentration of dressed-up and good-looking guys, it can be overwhelming.

I wanna go to a club this Friday, but know the same thing will occur again.

This probably sounds vain, unbelievable, inconsequential, or a mixture of the three, but it's something which greatly affects me.

    What does anyone think?

    Thanks in advance.
