Blog/Website - to Show Work

    Hi All,
Am currently trying to break into journalism and one suggestion that has come up a few times is to have a blog/website that I regularly update with work; both to show potential employers my work and also try to build a readership.
Does anyone have any suggestions of good sites to use?
Having done a bit of research online I am leaning toward Wordpress.com, the free version rather than the paid .org. But then I am already using Google on both my laptop and phone so I wonder would it be easiest of all to use Google +.
Any suggestions or feedback from anyone who has used these or other sites gratefully received!

The Google+ gig looks like it in a transformation period at the moment and no one is clear where its off to. I'd g down the road of blogger/wordpress - the platform is secondary, the content is critical.

Thanks for that IRE60, I'm particularly techie so definitely don't want to start with Google+ only for it to be changed, sounds like Wordpress it is so

I use Blogger and I think it's very user friendly. Allows you to give it a nice appearance as well!

Would you rate it over Wordpress? User friendly is a big concern for me, I am Not great with IT, which I know I will need to work on for journalism, so need to ease myself in!

Blogger is more straight forward the last time I used it, I found wordpress to be a bit more advance and I though that it might put off a non-techy user.

Blogger is google so you can use your gmail account for it.

Also set up a Twitter account to point people to your content.

Actually just set up a shiny fresh twitter account today!! Will take a look at both tomorrow, although being able to use gmail a definite plus.
    Thanks all
