Just received a text message from them saying they have gone into liquidation and cannot offer any refunds on vouchers. I just bought a 6 massage voucher in Feb as a 30th present for someone and I also have 3 massages remaining for myself.
Anyone else effected? Anything that can be done?

    Step 1

    - is to try get in touch with either Embody themselves or the liquidators (I am unsure how to find out who the liquidators are though as I have tried ringing Embody and the number does not exist anymore).

    Step 2

    - if you paid by card you may be able to avail of something called 'chargeback.' I rang the AIB debit card section this morning and they said if I write a letter to them explaining that I am unable to get any information or response from both Embody and their liquidators that they may be able to just take the money back (fingers crossed).

Unfortunately when you pay up front, as I did, we are known as unsecured creditors which basically means the revenue and all other debtors who are secured creditors get the money that they are owed leaving us with nothing.

Hope this helps. The National Consumer Agency were very helpful if you want to ring them yourself. The number is 1890 432 432 (lo call). I am just typing up my letter to AIB now so I will post here and update you in relation to their response.

    The AIB Chargebacks address is:

    AIB Chargebacks
    PO Box 0708
    Sandyford
    Dublin 18

Hi thankfully I paid by credit card so have been in touch with Ulster Bank they are sending out a form in order to make a claim as the payment was within the last 120 days . I cant find out the liquidators either, I rang the mobile number I have for them but no answer and answering machine is not set up. The owners of the company are Mary and Ray Tobin

Hi my boyfriend got me for Valentines the deal from one of the deal places. Do you think he will get his money back? Thanks.

I think that should be ok as the deal sites should honour their vouchers if a company has gone bust and the agreement was bought with them

I had treatments cancelled twice at short notice in one week by text by Embody last month. Emailed Dealrush straight away and they refunded credit card within a few days. I found Dealrush very professional and quick. Hope that's of some help.

Hi, has anyone had an update on Embody Day Spa in Swords regarding liquidator? I was on to Bank of Ireland credit card about a chargeback and they said I would need a letter from the liquidation company. Very disappointed as only heard about this when I was trying to make appointment to use the vouchers. Have tried phoning Embody but only Eircom message to say number is not in service and mobile going to message minder and not returning calls.

Hi, I phoned consumer advice today who recommended I get on to Company Reg Office and they said they have no record as yet of liquidation. I also text Mary Tobin's number today to ask for some form of letter to send to credit card company to say they would not be honouring my vouchers. Have had no word back as yet.

I too was affected by the Embody liquidation. I got onto the Company Registration Office today - again no notice of the liquidation, but service rep said 'unfortunately we're usually the last to know'.

    There are two options:
    1. go through small claims - see consumer protection agency website (consumerhelp.ie) (section: companies going out of business). As somone said, those with vouchers/package dealers are at the back of the queue here, as unsecured creditors.

    2. Request a chargeback: Different banks seem to have different procedures. My bank is requiring a detailed letter including receipt/record that I have bought the services - this seems to suggest a credit card statement isn't enough; and documenting efforts to contact them (this thread would suffice). A letter from the suppliers would suffice but again this is only possible if the liquidators' contacts are posted on the company registration office's website. I was told this would take about six weeks to complete.

To that end, go to the Company Registration's Office website and company search. Embody is the business name, the name of the limited company is RM Tobin Training Centre under Ray and Mary Tobin. The company number is 494836.

If anyone manages to get a contact number or email, please post.

Just letting you know I phoned AIB Chargeback services about my claim and they have refunded me the €99 I paid. This purchase was made December 2013 so anyone who feels like it might be too much hassle and not worth while I would urge you to reconsider and fight for your rights. The claim was very easy and AIB dealt with it speedily without any bother. Any questions you would like to ask me about how to go about the claim are welcome.

Hi, I received a reply to my text to Mary Tobin to say they would not be honouring my voucher as they have gone into liquidation. I have sent a copy of the email to Bank of Ireland chargeback section with a letter and a claim form. Hope this is all I need . Will let you know as soon as I hear back from them.
