Anyone here ever buy a few Wensleydale sheep? How are they doing for you.

I'd be crossing them with other breed of ram and selling lambs for meat...

    Thanks

Any photos? Sorry, don't know a thing about them.

No photos yet - but think of sheep and bob Marley and then you'll have a wendleydale!

A bit jumpy and nervy - not small but much lighter than my hoggets in weight. Most surprising thing was when I went to pick her up she was with a few culls which are about 12 and still very fit looking animals. All the literature seems to say all good things about them - good lambers / prolific / lean tasty meat / excellent wool.... Why are they a rare breed then?

Perhaps because, as you remarked, they weigh lighter?
