Meant to post this on the 'Artist in the spotlight' thread, but I figure an anonymous poll might be more interesting. So the question is, how much does running mean to you?

If, for example, you were told by a doctor that if you continued running, you would lose all of the hair on your head permanently, would you continue to run? (If you are already follicly challenged, then you get to lose a little pinky finger, if you continue to run). You can of course wear a wig for the rest of your life (or even invest in some of Rooney's hair plugs, but would you continue running if it meant losing all of your hair?

Would you continue running, if it meant losing all of the hair on your hair? 45 votes

Yes, I would continue running even at the cost of the hair on my head!

No way! My hair (or pinkie finger for the already bald!) is way too precious to me.

    You're totally mad :)
I'd strongly consider losing my job for running as it does mean a whole lot to me and being on the dole would give me lots of extra time to do more doubles ;) as long as I had enough money for runners and the state can take care of the rest. But losing my hair??? Now there's a question...

'What I think about when I think about running'. Went for a 9 mile run at lunch-time up to Three Rock. Should have been enjoying the views and the sunshine, but instead I was wondering what I would sacrifice for my hobby. I'd go bald in a heartbeat. My pinkies are useful for climbing though...

Wait ... so now I have to loose my pinkie as well as my hair ... what sort sadist are you. No wonder everyone is afraid of clowns. (Hair - yes, pinkie... maybe if no pain involved )

If a doctor told me if I kept running I'd lose my beautiful flowing raven locks then, yeah, in a heartbeat I'd give it up. Some things are just not worth the sacrifice.

I don't consider myself follically challenged (yet) but at some point I will be so if running speeded that up fine, I'd suffer that loss.
My pinky finger? I don't use that much. Just tried typing without it, no problem, so you can have that too.

    Rumbled : Pah

Hair on your head is so overrated.

If i was given 6 months to live and told I'd get an extra 6 months if I gave up running I might consider it. In saying that I would prefer to enjoy my last 6 months running then to suffer for 12 months looking at others running, wishing I could do it.

Already made that deal. The running won!

I'm only a running newbie so not quite addicted enough to sacrifice my hair yet (even hypothetically). I have fallen completely in love with it though and have surprised myself by sticking with it this long!

Thought about it on my run tonight and decided that you can have both my pinkies but not my hair. I think it's an easier decision for a guy to make about the hair though (unless you're staats:))

I would if I could have a wig. It'd be great, actually - styling my hair in the mornings takes forever. It'd mean I could go running at lunch as well because I wouldn't need to wash and style my hair after.

Well I have crap hair except on that one day where I go to the hairdresser and it's nice for a few hours til I go to bed. I have no idea what happens to it after this point but it's all over by the following morning. This of course means it can only be done on a rest day to make the most of the good hair window. I'm sure a wig would be less hassle. And I could change it up regularly whereas I can only wear my hair up or down as just don't care enough to do anything else...sounding like a better deal all the time.

Pinkies though? What would one put in the air while drinking tea from china cups?

No problem giving up the hair - would save a lot of hassle and money :)

Bonus would be the amount of time you would gain as you'd be lighter, cooler etc

Hair? Maybe, seen as my girlfriend recently pointed out my first grey hair (I'm only 26, too damn young I tells you! :(). Pinkie? No, part of my livelihood relies on having all five fingers intact at all times!

Why are you limiting it to your head?
there's some very hairy shoulders around that people seem very proud to show off - just check out the lead pen of any club 5 or 10k!

PS: Is this a picture of BeepBeep trying to answer this question:

    :D

I'd be willing to lose a testicle, maybe even the two assuming it didn't adversely effect my running performance. So a pinky or my hair wouldn't need a minutes thought ;)

I was going to suggest some kind of charity head-shave*, but you've just raised the stakes. :)

    <*no, I wasn't>

    Running = headspace.

Without running I would probably tear my hair out so win, win for giving up the hair :)
