Returning to previous course - grant

I completed first year of a course in one of the ITs (wont say which), but for various reasons I opted to transfer to NUIG for second year. The move was not as positive as I had anticipated, and I find myself regretting it more and more. I was able to continue to receive the grant after the transfer, as it was deemed as progression, although it did cause considerable confusion and delays.
In theory, if I was able to return to my old course to complete 3rd and 4th year, would I still receive my grant? I understand the progression rules entirely after last year, but would the multiple changes make it look like I was trying to play the system or something? I am entirely dependent on the grant to fund my education.

If you aren't repeating a year but are progressing then it should be ok. I don't know if there's anything in the student grant scheme limiting the number of transfers you can make. Maybe email SUSI and find out for definite.

Once you've received the grant you cannot get it again unless you are progressing.

You would forfeit the grant for the equivalent portion of the new course, e.g if you left your existing course in the summer you wont get a grant etc for the first year of a new course but you would get it for the remaining years.
