Real & Fake Clubs

Being playing really bad since I started back 2 yrs ago(so being long and hard) had a few lessons etc anyway my swing is on the border between reg/stiff 82-85 mph all my woods are stiff. anyway a pro told me I should change to Reg as I be more consistent and see improvements quicker. And i'd pick clubs up cheap second hand.

So went onto adverts and got a R9 Driver for €50 actually looks brand new chap told me it was given to him as a present and only used it 4 times,I seem to be more consistent so far with it after 2 rounds. So now looking to get 3w rescue etc.

Here's the question how can you tell if a club is real or fake what do you need to look out for?

And anyone know what the TM R9 3/5 woods are like?

I used to play with "fake" callaway clubs before. You'd know pretty quickly that they're not the real deal as the detailing around the lettering is a bit rubbish and the paint job is always a bit suspect on close inspection.

Here's a link to spot the difference http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/260911-real-or-fake-r9-what-to-look-for-updated/

However, what these clubs did for me was for me to let me know that i was very interested in continuing to play golf and i invested in a good set eventually.

I use the R9 3w and love it. Its the first proper club i bought after using the fakes. It cost me €175 at the time and its never left my bag, whereas everything else has been updated. They are hard to come by in good condition, so much so, that i was asked to "name my price" for it when i was on the driving range 2 weeks ago.

However, i haven't tried the newer TM woods with the speed pockets and racing stripes, RBZ or RBZ 2. Apparently they're the the bee's knees and you could probably pick them up for handy money brand new as they are not the latest models.

Yea I find the older TM stuff seems to be quality compared to the new stuff as their producing 2/3 drivers a year nearly!!

True, but the good side of that is we get to buy the "older" clubs at a huge discount. I bought the R11S TP driver for around €170 9 months after it was released as the R1 was launched :D

And i managed to pick up a new TM Superfast 2.0 TP 5w for €90, when the RBZ range was released.

Best way is to meet in a pro shop and have him check it if its big money.
Also google pictures of the legit club and compare.
