Looking to put together a decent rig. Current PC is five years old, was going to upgrade that but was recommended starting from scratch so looking for ideas. Can't harvest anything from it as I'll leave it to the family. Won't be ordering parts til I move out in two months or so but would like to be looking into it in the mean time!

    1. What is your budget? [€xxx]
    €700-800

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] (If gaming include which games)
Gaming (Red Orchestra 2, TF2, ARMA 2, Killing Floor, heavily modded S.T.A.L.K.E.R., mostly FPSs really) drawing, possibly 3D modelling

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes/No]
    Yes, Win7

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Hard drive/DVD Drive/Case/PSU/etc.] (If possible state brand and model of the parts to ensure compatibility)
    No

    5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes/No]
    Yes

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]
    22'-24'

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.]
    Keyboard, mouse, speakers

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No]
    No

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]
    Credit card

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days]
    Next two/three months maybe

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [South Dublin City/Cork City/Kerry/etc.]
    Kildare

This is mostly just copied from miece16's thread with a few downgrades to accomodate the monitor + windows 7.
The processor is a bit slower than a 4670 but should be more than enough for the games you listed.

The 270 is generally slightly slower than a 270x/760 but gigabyte have factory overclocked this one so it
should be much closer than most stock 270s. You may also be able to eke more performance out of the card using MSI afterburner.

The Monitor is the cheapest IPS I would recommend. It has DVI, HDMI and VGA inputs and colours should look pretty nice.
For a slightly cheaper option you could get a BenQ GL2250HM for €98.99 which has all of the same inputs and also built in speakers.
The Benq has slightly worse colours as its only a standard TN panel though.

The SSD is also only 120GB compared to the 240GB in the other build so you might want to consider dropping the monitor down to the Benq if you want to get the 240GB version.

All of these were priced on hardwareversand.de after running the items through geizhals.de to get the best prices.

    EDIT:
Sorry just saw you were going to build in the next 2-3 months, this build will probably be out of date by then. You're probably best off just waiting until a couple of weeks before you're ready to build because prices change so quickly.
