    Hi All

Just wondering if anyone has done the Work and Organisational Psychology Masters in University Limerick or are currently doing it? What did you think of the course? Did you have to do an interview to get in?

I have an interview for the course in May and was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips? I've never gone through an academic interview before is it pretty much the same as a job interview?

I will be emailing them tomorrow to confirm and I want to ask is it a panel of interviewers or just one on one.

If anybody had any insight at all I would very much appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Hi BigCOB

I went through the interview and then received a letter saying I got in! :) Unfortunately I'm now having funding problems so I still may not get to do the course... hopefully it won't come to that.

How did you find the course? Did you do the full-time or part-time? Did you work through the course?

Excellent, delighted to hear it Katie!

Just to be aware, if you are depending on SUSI to cover your fees, on registration day they will give you a hard time as the fees are 7,250 and SUSI covers 6,270 (I think those figures are right), anyway, the lady registering me said I needed to pay the difference first, I went away, paid the 72euro student levy and went back, she questioned me again and I said I had already contacted the fees office to make payment arrangements, she just grunted and registered me, they can be a bit awkward over that but you will be fine.

The course is excellent, I couldn't praise it enough, it was a great mix of theory and practical stuff and the nature of the course puts you in group work with people who have years of exceptional experience. The teaching staff to are exceptional and are very engaging. You will do a psychometric course during your time there too and I have found this very valuable.

I did it full time and I worked as well, for the most part this was ok but there were a lot of demands on my time during group projects etc but I got around it.

Thanks for the heads up BigCOB. I will be going to the fees office to arrange staggering the payment of my fees.

How many days a week did you work while doing the course? How many people were in your class? And did many of them get jobs after the course?

Sorry for all the Q's :)

    No problem.

I worked 30 hours a week over 5 days. People will tell you it can't be done, LIES! If you're good with time management you'll be fine. There were about 20 in the class, but for a lot of lectures you will be mixed in with the HRM group, bringing some class sizes up to 40ish. Are you coming in with a psych degree ya? Prepared for the spss???? Nothing to worry about, they start from 1st year stuff again, it's very manageable. From what I understand, a fair proportion are working now (according to Linkedin!) and others were already working, the rest are continuing education and 1 or 2 are unemployed. If you are into psychology in general and willing to be moved, Prometric in Dundalk recruit ALL the time, starting salary with a masters is 28K I believe.

Ask as many questions as you like, if I can answer I will

Are the jobs mostly computer based? As in you would be 9-5 in front of a pc screen?
