    1. What is your budget? 800

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming. I don't normally play graphic intensive games but would like the option. Main games are RPG's, strategy games like settlers 7 (I prefer settlers 2-4 :). Elder scrolls series, mount and blade, Assassin creed.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? no

5a. If yes, what size do you need.

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] Not 100% sure about resolution its quite old. I do plan on upgrading in future but it will do for now.

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No

    8. How can you pay? credit card

    9. When are you purchasing? hopefully within next two weeks

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Based in dublin but wont need help.

Id like upgrade certain components in the future so i figured i should invest in a good motherboard and case so i will have slots for upgrading . Iv been searching around Hardwareversand.de but i honestly have no idea what to pick... There are so many different brands etc... Id like to get parts with built in fans if possible.

Here is a list of a few things i came up with after searching a few sites and looking at suggestions here... they are also all available for dispatch.

Case: FRACTAL DESIGN Gehäuse Arc R2 Midi Tower /84 euro

Hard drive: WD Blue 1TB 6Gb's /50 euro

    Ram: 8GB Kingston ValueRAM PC3-10667E ECC CL9 /75 euro

Processor: Intel Core i5-4670 /180 euro

Graphic card: Gainward GeForce GTX 760, 2GB DDR5 208 euro

    Motherboard: ASUS H87-PRO (C2) 91 euro

Powersupply: Corsair CX Series Modular CX500M, 500W / 58 euro

That comes to 746 euro... Thats in around the budget but i dont know what needs to be improved or downgraded. Not sure if i need extra fans...

    Thanks for your help!

Don't think you used gehizals.de discount. Use it. Important.

swap Ram for corsair ones 1600mhz 65 euro. Or even cheaper. Ballistic ones I think. In a hurry phone dying.

Asus gtx 260 model. 206-208. Better card. Best value /quality of it at the moment.

Squeeze in ssd crucial 120 gig 57 euro. Should about make that with savings from Geizhals discount on all parts and mobo to Asus h87 plus...

Switch Case if needs be...corsair carbide 300r 60.and put 20 to Xeon 1230 CPU.

Here's your build run through geizhals with a few changes:

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i5-4670 Box, LGA1150 |€179.14
    8GB-Kit Crucial Ballistix Sport Series DDR3-1600, CL9 |€55.99
    ASUS H87-Plus (C2), Sockel 1150, ATX |€82.60
    Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC Windforce 2X (Rev. 2.0), 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, | €146.15
LG DH18NS schwarz bare SATA II |€11.32
    LG Flatron 22EA53VQ-P |€115.99
Corsair Carbide Series 300R windowed, ATX, ohne Netzteil |€71.69
    WD Blue 1TB 6Gb's |€46.98
    Delock 82476 SATA Kabel 20cm gerade/gerade Metall gelb |€1.05
    Corsair CX Series Modular CX500M, 500W |€53.83
    Crucial M500 120GB SATA 6GB/s 6,4CM (2,5") 7mm |€56.52
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€840.25

For geizhals.de you copy and paste an item into the search bar and go, then look through the links and find one that leads back to hardwareversand and click it. The price for the item should be lower but sometimes it's even higher! so just look at each one before you click the link.

The RAM I picked here is one of those items that works out a little more expensive as I think they recently discounted it on hwvs but geizhals haven't updated their price.

Overall the build is very similar but I swapped the ram for some equivalent but much cheaper stuff. I think SterlingArcher meant the crucial m500 ssd as a cheaper option. The m550 is a little faster than the m500 though the 840 evo is slightly better again and cheaper in this price segment.

After looking at a few ESO benchmarks it seems like nvidia has the upper hand but I would try to get at least a gtx 660 which looks to keep frames in the mid 50s on higher settings at 1080p. Usually a radeon 270 is better value in this price segment but not for ESO. A 760 would be a great option for other games as well but markedly more expensive.

One other thing, I think that monitor comes with a vga cable but no DVI. I only realized after I had recommended it a few times. There's a 1m cable for 3.99 on hwvs "Good Connections DVI-D 18+1 Anschlusskabel, 1m",it should give a better picture on a digital display or use a hdmi cable if you have one to spare.

You could upgrade the cpu to "Intel Xeon E3-1230v3 Bx, LGA1150" as Sterling mentioned for another 20 which is basically an i7 4770 without graphics which you don't need. It comes in at just over 200 with the geizhals trick.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Parts are ordered =D.

One final question though. I thought i had a copy of windows lying around but it turns out i don't.

I think ill download a free operating system. Linux mint for example. There are quite a few good ones out there it seems.

Am i going to run into any problems installing drivers ect...? Would it be better just to invest in windows 7?

After some reading i think ill stick with windows 7... seems to complicated as lots of programs/games are specifically written for windows.

Where is the best place to get windows 7?
