I have a 1.4 (vw) that happens to be band C (by 2 grams!) and cost me €570. Found this table that defines the bands.

Qashqais built after September 2010 had lower emissions and a 117bhp engine vs 113bhp on the earlier ones.

Early ones are 159 g/km, late ones are 144 g/km

Newer petrol should be €380, anything with that €280 band would be under 140g/km

That means they are just putting in for pre 2008 cars.

Don't mind them they deal with cars and probably should take more care but they are only human at the end of the day;)

Qashqai 1.6s with stop-start (ISS) are indeed €280
They were built from feb 2011 onwards.
