Feel for you I had one for a year focus van 07. Got rid of it only a month ago and it was the best move I ever made them focuses are the most over rated sh!t boxes made I'd never go back. Anyway I have a golf van 07 which I love but it wasn't cheap and if your on a budget probably not an option. I've had a 1.3cdti astra van which was a great van if but a bit underpowered. So if you could get a 1.7cdti astra van then your onto a real winner. Alternatively you could go away from car derived vans and get a caddy there a great van and probably the nicest to drive out of the smaller van vans if you know what I mean.

A mk2 tdi caddy won't put you too far wrong. Just change the timing belts on time.

    This type of job.

I've a '07 Corolla commercial. She's only 1.4 D4D so I suppose it'd be a bit thirsty if given a lot of motorway going. It might be a bit small in the back for work tools, but if you managed with a Focus I don't imagine it's much smaller!

Reliability wise I can't fault it, great little van to stay going.

Even the newer 05 onwards is a great van. Where I worked last summer they had a good few of them caddys 05-06 ones there with 200k miles plus that got severe abuse. I mean these were dogged seriously the companies policy on servicing was every 30k miles :o they still stayed going until lads drove then into floods which seemed to happen suprisingly often they really don't like water :D

Caddy, Golf, Corolla are all great vans. You won't go far wrong with any of them.

Depends on the OP's budget I suppose. In terms of reliabilty and mpg it's 6 of 1 but the newer ones are quicker and look nicer. Would be nice to find one of the 1% that has been minded.

Either way if you budget for a grand to put into it (for consumables, tyres, timing belts and a service)in the first year you'll be sound.
