Hi I went to the ATM machine on my way home from work and it said 'Your card appears to be damaged'. I was unable to check balance or take out any money. I can't get to a bank until lunchtime tomorrow and I'm starving. Does anybody know a local shop that would take an order over the phone and either deliver or go down and collect. I live in Dublin 1. Badly stuck..thanks

I have no idea if your bank will do this, but the UK's NatWest will give customers in your situation a code over the phone to enter into an ATM to withdraw cash without a card. (Once they've passed the security questions, obviously)

Not very much publicised - does it exist with Irish banks, anyone know?

Apache pizza take card details on their site.

Put on a snazzy suit, get a catchy tune in your head and hit the The Ha'penny Bridge.

You'll have a few quid by 8 o clock Im sure

    Pay it forward!

I got the same message when I tried to take money out of a Bank of Ireland ATM a couple of hours ago. Tried an AIB one and it worked fine.

Happened to me recently. Ulster bank app has emergency money where you type the code onto the ATM and you get your cash

No I just wanted to get a bit of grocery shopping. Theres hundreds of places on just eat etc but just a bit of supermarket food.

Does anybody know if the self service in Tesco lets you type in the actual card number? I know the pin obviously

Its an EBS so I doubt they give you anymore or anything like that

Call round to some buddies house and just keep chatting to them. They will feed you just to shut you up.

    Works for me.

Negative. You could order a shop online and have it delivered in the morning.

I tried a bank of Ireland in a shop and then a banlink aib at the atm on liffey street. Both didn't work. Should I try a couple more?

Afaik the atm works off the magnetic strip so the card should be fine to use in a chip and pin machine in a shop and get cashback

This happened to me a few weeks ago, but it was the chip that went first. Could only swipe, not many shops will do it.
Then the swipe went so couldn't even use an ATM!

Saw an ad on tv for dominos yesterday. .. €20.99 for two medium pizzas...I was gobsmacked. Is that meant to be some kind of deal??? Outrageously expensive for two pizzas especially given that the quality of dominos is so piss poor.

It wasn't the atm in the Centra on Dame Street was it? It's not working properly, It rejected my card too but I used a different atm on the way home and my card was grand.
