    Quick question
Can I tax a car that is not in my name yet?
I know it was a difficult thing to do before but these things can change.
I just want to pay the tax and put the car on the road asap

Not sure...you can ask the previous owner to arrange the payment of the tax and refund him/her?

If you use the motortax.ie website, you can pay the tax as soon as the name is switched in Shannon - i.e. before you get the new registration certificate. All you have to do is to claim a new pin by using the car's registration and your address. It'll work immediately by email.

I'm just thinking that now that since it has not been taxed since last year, that could cause problems.
I don't see why the motor tax office wouldn't want my money though.
