Beginner commuter bike advice

Availing of the Bike to work scheme and want to get something a little better than the junker I currently use for my commute. Know very little about this field but I do like the style of a MTB rather than a racing/road…

Hi All

I'm sure you've had a million threads like this but hopefully someone will be able to help me out. Know very little about this field but I do like the style of a MTB rather than a racing/road bike. In short I'd like something with good build quality, reliable that looks a little bit cool.

Budget is €350-450. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am not going to recommend a bike, but if you are going for the BTW Scheme, it is to your advantage to price a good bit higher if you can afford it. Your paying for it over 12 months out of your salary before tax.

The Trek 7.x FX hybrid range are really good although the 7.2 would be the lowest spec I'd consider.

I have the 7.2 FX (as well a proper road bike) and I still love cycling this hybrid. It's eight years old now and looks and rides perfectly. Great bikes and ideal for what you are looking for.

the hubs particulary the rear is the weak point,ive been informed this has been rectified since,by no means a great bike but equal to what you posted
