I am considering getting a dreambox for my new build home. I haven't got a telephone point near the TV location, can you get a dreambox with wifi?

Purchase a pair of homeplugs. But be sure to plug them straight into the wall (one at router, other at box) and not an extension lead as they won't work properly.

Don't do that. Homeplugs are bad technology that will cause interference to your neighbours.

Surely it is easy enough to put a telephone or ethernet point near the location especially with a new build before you move in. The builders could probably do it for you.

yes dreamboxes have wifi (Newer HD models) and also you could use a wifi bridge. But as I have found out using (Streaming) a Dreambox via wifi or a bridge sometimes isnt that successful and the only real way to get 100% efficiency is via hard wire.

You will find if your streaming, a wifi link to the router via the dreambox, it works fine, its the 2nd leg if your laptop is using wifi too that corrupts and slows things down. It just gets messy.

Personally if your doing a new build, i would run cat 5 cable to most rooms for the future along with good coax.

What are you talking about? Interference to your neighbours?

Simple answer, not possible! Countless homes use these. Only way to make these work wrong is to plug them into an extension.

He's right, homeplug adapters can cause interference to short wave radio reception.
HomePlug adapters are often referred to as PLT (Power Line Telecommunication) devices, and shortwave radio enthusiasts claim that they can effectively turns your home into a low-powered transmitter, as your home's mains cabling radiates a low-power "noise" in the band used by short wave radio (2Mhz to 30Mhz).

If you're using a Powerline adapter and you have a radio amateur living two or three doors away, you may be broadcasting noise on a frequency he's using for his hobby. The interference can radiate out around 100 metres. There's also evidence that Powerline adapters can cause interference to FM and DAB radio reception.

You've obviously never encountered a short wave radio enthusiast :D

Truth is, they really should be illegal, they should never get CE certification. They only get them to pass is by testing them singly, not in pairs with data passing. There's plenty of enthusiast videos on YouTube demonstrating the interference they cause

Not really. Now that you know they cause interference to carry on using them is selfish.

To get back to the point, wall plugs are next best option to plugging directly into router. Especially if you plan to stream to laptop to tablet over wifi from box. If you are looking to use the box for anything other than freeview, looks like that's on way out in the near future. If you haven't invested already - might want to reconsider.

Will not panic on that just yet as it appears to be only a certain picture quality that's targeted, while all else is grand. And if sources are to be believed, then this is already rectified in another Country.

    Anyw, that's for another forum.
