Was looking for good set of starter weights on adverts but didn't really see what I wanted. Came across these in elverys. Can only find one review of 8/10. Free to collect or €10 delivery.

Alternatively you can go for the vinyl set, but if you want to go up in weight you be limited and its easier to sell on the cast iron set.

    Cast iron €90
    Vinyl €45

Cast iron seems like a very good price. Might pick these up, cheers Op.

Definitely going to swing by and try and pick up the Cast Iron weights, looks like a great deal. Is the offer in all stores or just online?

There's a 10-20 % off code floating around too. Anyone know what the plate sizes are?

Not sure. I ordered Saturday for collection in omni and though I would be able to collect straight away, but its only being picked now so I'm assuming they must send it out from their warehouse.

Good spot OP, is it the length of the bar on the vinyl set that would stop you from going up weight or am i missing another reason?

Vinyl plates are thicker so can't fit that many on a bar.

From the health and fitness section.

Vinyl weights are pretty big, and the sets usually only come with a light amount of weight. You'll likely outgrow any vinyl set of weights you buy pretty quickly, in which case, you'll need to get more. When that happens, you'll find yourself running out of room on the bar. They also wear out a lot faster if they're getting constant use.

I'd recommend getting the iron ones even though they're more expensive.

If your going to go the cheaper route of vinyl I'd recommend adverts. Plenty going for next to nothing.

Vinyl sets often come with hollow bars, it says the bars weight 10kg, this would be the 2 dumbbells and the long bar, the dumbbells typically weight 2kg when solid, so it sounds like the bar in this case is solid.

However the question of vinyl vs cast iron comes up all the time in the fitness forum and strength training forum, I have never once seen someone recommend vinyl, or even be on the fence about it. Cast iron is definitely the one to go for.

Yep. All the bars are standard 25mm diameter.
