Dying hair back to blonde

Get ready.. this is a really stupid question but anyway!

I basically used to be blonde when I was a kid but as a teenager went mousey coloured, so now my hair is kind of that plain, mousey colour, quite boring. I was happy with this for ages, as I was really shy, didn't make an effort with appearance, etc. But now starting to dress a bit more trendy and wear nice clothes, so I was considering dying my hair.

I'd quite like to go back to blonde but I've never dyed my hair before ever and I don't know if it would damage it? Would they have to put peroxide in? I don't want my hair to be straw-like, as at the moment it's at least healthy and shiny. Would it better to go dark? Either option would be better than mousey to be honest!

    :pac:

If you were blonde as a child, then it'll possibly suit you better than dark hair. But obviously I can't see you so it's hard to tell :)

Peroxide would be used for bleaching your hair, but you can avoid damaging it by building up blonde highlights rather than having it bleached all at once, spacing out your appointments to give your hair a break, regular trims and not going overboard on heat styling (and using heat protection when you do use heat). I find the likes of Argan oil to be great for catching split ends before they get really bad.

Dark hair is definitely easier and cheaper to maintain, but blonde can be lovely if it suits you. You could get a light balayage effect done rather than a full head of blonde highlights. It's a nice way to ease yourself back into it without needing constant root touch-ups, so you won't fry your hair.

Something like this could be gorgeous: http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/15/93/7a/15937a92f96cbf57d301d4cf83da27b9.jpg
