Update:

Fixture Change: Benildus A vs Elm Mount A fixture reversed due to hosting problems from clash with state exams.

Blanchardstown C have withdrawn due to a difficulty in finding enough captains. (This is a common problem for clubs with a lot of juniors.)

Dún Laoghaire 3½-2½ St Benildus B. Nearly a huge upset, but still a great result which gives us an outside chance of a quarter final spot.

Naomh Barrog 4-2 St Benildus. Bad result for us; need to beat Elm Mount 4-2 now I think. We blundered a queen in one game and a piece in another...

Pretty much the expected score in a match between a team of 1300/1400s and 800/900s. We were just lost in the game that was agreed a draw, but it was probably fair that we got something for four battling performances in particular.

Bray could well go on to win it. Not many teams will have a 1300+ on board 6.

Last I heard it was 2-0 to Elm Mount against St Benildus. So we needed to win all the other four games to get out of the group. (I'm assuming Naomh Barróg did what was needed against Blanch)

Finished Elm Mount 5-1 St Benildus!

Had expected that a team with four Irish internationals and another player who won an O'Hanlon board prize this year would at least get out of the groups, but there you go! Strong competition.

A very close Final indeed which could have went either way.

It finished Curragh 3 Rathmines 3 with the Curragh winning the tie-break.

It's a pity they weren't in on time for the September rating list.

My understanding is that as the William Brennan was pre September Rating List it will be slotted in according to date and the September list would then have to be republished as it would be incorrect would it not.

I'm told these may well be done this week; the problem was the format (Excel sheets and handwritten bits of paper), and it's been handed over to someone who can muck about with computers much better to extract the required format for Mark Orr's upload.
