Anyone got their honeymoon booked or in the process of booking or been to Thailand? It's looking like the best option for our January 2015 honeymoon!! Can anyone give me feedback on price etc? Thanks

Had our honeymoon in Thailand. Loved it. Can't remember exactly but think it cost a little over 2k each. We started off in Koh Samuai for a week then 4 nights in Chaing Mai and 2 in Bangkok. Koh Samuai is amazing. So romantic with the most amazing beach and fantastic people. Our hotel was also amazing. I wasn't as gone on the other 2 places but have had friends who back packed and loved Chaing Mai. I also know people who loved Bangkok but there arent as many of these!! Have your wits about you in Bangkok. Loads of people tried to rip us off!! All in all I would recommend Thailand for a honeymoon, esp Koh Samuai! We're always saying we'd love to go back there for 2 weeks for our 10th anniversary!

I love Bangkok. If you can ignore all the sleaze and have your wits about you it is a beautiful city, especially up by the palace. If you have time I would recomend a excursion to Ankor Wat in Cambodia for a few days.

I also did Phuket which is absolutely nuts and Koh Phi Phi which is beautiful and a great spot for scuba diving.

We booked accomodation as we went and always got good deals.

Thanks guys, koi samaui looks amazing to be fair, I literally want to be horizontal for 2 weeks, on a beach. This wedding lark is taking up all my time I need a rest, I'm done haggling!!!
soaking up the sun. I don't think I'd like Bangkok can't be dealing with that Craic. How did you book your honeymoon and when did you go @sinead mc1?
Is it far how many stop offs?

Parts of koh Sami felt like a package holiday in Spain, it's becoming very commercialised. Some parts are still nice, be careful.

Try looking at the quiter islands like kao lhak.

If you just want beach then I would just do the Canaries or something closer. No point in flying all the way to Thailand other than to say you were there. 1 beach is much like another.

We did SE Asia for our honeymoon. We took 4 days on Koh Phi Phi towards the end. Would really highly recommend it as the luxury treat. We stayed on the Phi Phi Island Village resort. It's a little isolated from the town but it's absolute heaven. Fabulous beach and pool, spectacular paradisaic views... We got a honeymoon upgrade for a pool-side villa. It was amazing... Like having a holiday home with private pool for skinny dipping. No one overlooking you... Really amazing.
You can do day trip for snorkelling, visit island from James Bond film, Maya Bay from the film The Beach (beautiful but wouldn't bother tbh)... It's perfect spot for 4-5 days. Might get boring after a week I'd imagine though.

highly recommend any purchasing be done in bangkok. All of the knock off fake gear and trinkets and baubles are in the markets there in much greater quantities and cheaper prices then the islands.
Do 3 days in bangkok, get your stuff, then the 10-14 days on the islands.

Dont play pool with the girls in the bars, they're very very good looking.
