Have always had great eyesight (far and near) and was able to read the entire test board in the doctor's when renewing driving licence last time ,, but in the past few months have found it difficult to read small print close up. I suppose age is catching up with me.
My question is do I go to optician and have my eyes tested or just buy a cheap pair of magnifiers from the pound shop or similar? This would be an easier and cheaper option so what is the danger if any of doing this?

If you are an employee, you will get an eye exam paid for you under the Treatment Benefit scheme (PRSI). Go to your local opticians and find out what the story is before picking up a magnifier. They can cause unnecessary strain on your visual system.
